Eligibility Criteria of SSC CGL Recruitment

 
Age Limit: There are four categories of age ranges: 18 to 27 years, 20 to 30 years, 18 to 30 years and 18 to 30 years.

Age Relaxation: Category-wise age relaxation is as mentioned below 
 
● SC/ST: 5 years
● OBC: 3 years
● PwD (Unreserved): 10 years
● PwD (OBC): 13 years
● PwD (SC/ST): 15 years 
 
Educational Qualification:

Junior Statistical Officer: Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognized University or Institute with at least 60% Marks in Mathematics at 12th standard level;
Or
Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level.
 
Statistical Investigator Grade-II: Bachelor degree in Statistics or Mathematics or Economics or Demography or Population Studies or Operation Research or Information Technology or Computer Science or Computer Engineering or Computer Technology or Computer Application or Data Science or Artificial Intelligence from a recognized University or recognized Institute.

All Other Posts: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or Institute.

Note: The candidates who have appeared in their final year of their graduation can also apply, however they must possess Essential qualification as on 01.08.2026.

Syllabus of SSC CGL Examination


The Computer Based Examination will be conducted in two tiers as indicated below:
  • Tier-I
  • Tier-II
Marks scored by candidates in Computer Based Examinations, if conducted in multiple shifts, will be normalized by using the formula published by the Commission. There shall be no provision for re-evaluation/ re-checking of the scores of any stage/ Tier(s) of the examination.

Syllabus of Tier-I Examination


This is a preliminary, objective-type examination that is qualifying in nature. Marks scored will be used to shortlist candidates for the Tier-II examination.
  • Mode: Computer Based Examination (CBE)
  • Question Type: Objective Type, Multiple Choice Questions
  • Negative Marking: There will be a penalty of 0.50 marks for each incorrect answer.
Tier-I Exam Pattern [Duration: 1 hour (1 hour and 20 minutes for eligible scribes)]:

Syllabus of Tier-II Examination


Candidates who clear the Tier-I cut-off will be eligible to appear for the Tier-II examination. Tier-II consists of three papers, but most candidates will only need to appear for Paper-I.
  • Paper-I: Compulsory for all posts.
  • Paper-II (Statistics): Only for candidates who apply for Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) and Statistical Investigator Grade-II posts.
  • Negative Marking: There is a penalty of 1 mark for each wrong answer in Section-I, II, and III of Paper-I, and 0.50 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-II.

Important Points for Tier-II:
  • It is mandatory to qualify in all sections of Paper-I separately.
  • The Computer Knowledge Test (Section-III) and DEST (Section-IV) are mandatory but qualifying in nature. However, higher qualifying standards will be set for posts that specifically require computer proficiency or a higher typing speed.
