Eligibility Criteria of Intelligence Bureau Recruitment


Nationality: Candidate must be an Indian national.

Essential Qualification: Candidates must possess any one of the following educational Qualifications.

i) Graduate Degree in Engineering in Electronics or Electronics and Tele-communication or Electronics and Communication or Electrical and Electronics or Information Technology or Computer Science or Computer Engineering or Computer Science and Engineering; from a Government recognized University/College/Institute. Or

ii) Master’s Degree in Science with Electronics or Computer Science or Physics with Electronics or Electronics & Communication; or Master’s Degree in Computer Applications; from a Government recognized University/College/Institute. 
 
GATE Score: Candidates must have achieved qualifying cut-off marks in GATE 2023 or 2024 or 2025 in Electronics & Communication (GATE code: EC) or Computer Science & Information Technology (GATE code: CS). 


Experience Certificate: The Experience Certificate of Driving should be issued from any Central/State/Semi-Government Department/ Organization/ Institute/ Corporation or PSUs/ Autonomous Bodies/Registered Firms for at least one year after obtaining a valid Driving License.

Age Limit: The candidate’s age should be between 18 years to 27 years as on 16.11.2025.

Age Relaxation:

  • SC/ST candidates get a relaxation of 5 years, while OBC candidates are entitled to 3 years of relaxation.
  • Departmental candidates working as Central Government civilian employees with at least 3 years of continuous service can apply up to the age of 40 years.
  • In case of widows, divorced women, and women judicially separated from their husbands (not remarried), the maximum age limit is relaxed as follows:
             (i) UR: up to 35 years
             (ii) OBC: up to 38 years
             (iii) SC/ST: up to 40 years
  • Ex-servicemen are eligible for age relaxation as per Government instructions issued from time to time.
  • A relaxation of up to 5 years is available for meritorious sportspersons

◾ Others Candidates: Rs.100/–

Selection Process of IB Recruitment


The selection process of Intelligence Bureau Junior Intelligence Officer Grade-II/Tech i.e. JIO-II/ Tech posts consists of following stages:
  • Tier-I Written Examination (100 Marks): An objective-type test consisting of General Awareness, Driving Rules, Reasoning, Aptitude, and English.
  • Tier-II Exam (50 Marks): This stage includes a Driving Test and Motor Mechanism Test, followed by an Interview. Candidates’ practical knowledge of vehicle handling, identifying and fixing minor defects, and overall driving skills will be assessed.
  • Document Verification (DV): Shortlisted candidates will undergo verification of their original certificates related to educational qualifications, age, caste, experience, and other eligibility criteria.
  • Medical Examination (ME): Candidates must pass a medical fitness test conducted as per IB standards to ensure they are physically fit for the job.
