Govt. of India has released the official notification for Assam ST Scholarship Scheme 2025. Basically, these scholarships are Pre-Matric and Post-Matric scholarships for the students of Assam belonging to Scheduled Tribes (ST) for the year 2025-2026.

Eligibility Criteria of Assam ST Scholarship


These scholarships shall be available for studies in India only and will be awarded by the Government of State/ Union Territory to which the applicant actually belongs, i.e. permanently settled. Individual eligibility criteria for each scholarships are as given below 

Pre-Matric Scholarship for ST Students:

Class IX & X:

I. Applicant student should belong to the Scheduled Tribe, so specified in relation to the State/Union Territory to which he/she actually belongs (Domicile State).
II. The student should be studying in a Government School or in a School recognized by Government or a Central/State Board of Secondary Education.
III. The family income of student from all sources should not exceed Rs. 2.5 lakh per annum.
IV. The student should have a valid account in a Scheduled Bank, linked with Aadhaar and mobile number.
V. The student should not be getting any other scholarship.
VI. Scholarship for studying in any class will be available for only one year. If a student has to repeat a class, he/she would not get scholarship for the same class twice. The student can renew scholarship for the next class when he/she is promoted.

Post-Matric Scholarship for ST Students:

a. The student should belong to Scheduled Tribe so specified in relation to the State/Union Territory to which he/she actually belongs (Domicile State).
b. Student should have passed the Matriculation or Higher Secondary or any higher examination of a recognized University or Board of Secondary Education.
c. The family income of student from all sources should not exceed Rs.2.50 lakh per annum.
d. The student should have a valid account in a Schedule Bank linked with Aadhar and Mobile number.
e. The student should not be getting any other scholarship.
f. The scholarships will be given for study of recognized post-matriculation/ postsecondary courses, recognized by the concerned approving authority, pursued in following category of Institutions/Universities/Colleges.

i. All Government Institutes/Colleges/Universities
ii. Institutions of National Importance;
iii. Central University/ State university/ Autonomous colleges recognized by UGC and Universities/ Colleges recognized under section 2(f) and/or 12(b) of UGC Act;
iv. Deemed Universities;
v. Private Universities recognized by State/Centre with ‘A’ level or equivalent accreditation by NAAC, NBA;
vi. Private Professional Institutions affiliated to a recognized Central/State University
vii. Schools /colleges recognized by Govt/Govt aided for Classes XI to class XII;
viii. Diploma granting Institutions as recognized by State/UT Governments;
ix. Vocational Training Institute affiliated to National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT);
x. Institutions affiliated/approved by the appropriate bodies like MCI/AICTE etc or any regulatory body established by State/Centre as approving authority for particular course.

Income Ceiling:

Pre-Matric (Class-IX & X) [Component-I] and Post-Matric Scholarship:

Scholarships will be granted to the SC students whose parental/guardian's income from all sources does not exceed Rs. 2.5 lakhs per annum. The income certificate should be obtained only from the Circle Officer of respective Revenue Circle.


Pre-Matric (Class I-X) [Component-II] Scholarship:

No income bar for the children of those Engaged in Occupation involving Cleaning and Prone to Health Hazards.

Children of those Engaged in Occupation involving Cleaning and Prone to Health Hazards, Eligible candidates will submit a certificate from District Social Welfare office, identified officer of Local body, Civic Agency or any such authority as designated by State Government.

How to Apply for ST Scholarship Assam ?


Candidates need to visit official national scholarship portal https://scholarships.gov.in for submission of online application this scholarship. One needs to follow below mentioned steps -

Step 1: Scroll down, Go to Important Web Links section.

Step 2: Click on Online Application link.

Step 3: A new webpage will be opened.

Step 4: Click on "New Registration" Link.

Step 5: Enter your details as required in the page; and register yourself.

Step 6: After registration, enter all credentials and upload your documents as required in the portal.

Step 7: Finally click on "Submit" and take print out of your submitted application.

Documents to be Submitted along with Online Form:
 
Students mandatorily need the following documents to fill up the SC Scholarship Application Form. 
  • Bank Passbook
  • Income Certificate
  • Caste Certificate
  • Aadhaar Card
Note:
a) Applicants are advised to give only that bank account details which remains in active mode so that payment of Scholarship does not fail as all the disbursement of Scholarship will be made through DBT mode. The authority shall not be responsible for any failure of transaction due to inactive or incorrect bank details.

b) Applicants to ensure that they have a bank account seeded with Aadhaar number.

c) Aadhaar to be made mandatory for all applicants. However for minor applicants who apply without Aadhaar, it will be mandatory for parent or legal guardian to provide Aadhaar.
