Pay scale: Level 02 of 7th CPC Pay Matrix with initial pay of Rs 19900/- plus other allowances as admissible.
Eligibility Criteria of RRB ALP Recruitment
Age Limit: Candidates age must be between 18 to 30 years as on 1st July 2026.
Age Relaxation: The relaxation of upper age limit for reserved categories are as follows:
- OBC-NCL: 3 years
- SC/ST: 5 years
Educational Qualification:
A) Matriculation/ SSLC plus ITI from recognised institutions of NCVT/ SCVT in the trades of Fitter, Electrician, Instrument Mechanic, Millwright Maintenance Mechanic, Mechanic Radio & TV, Electronics Mechanic , Mechanic Motor Vehicle, Wireman, Tractor Mechanic, Armature and Coil Winder, Mechanic Diesel, Heat Engine, Turner, Machinist, Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Mechanic.
OR
Matriculation/ SSLC plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the trades mentioned above. OR
B) 3 years Diploma in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Automobile Engineering.
OR
Combination of various streams of these Engineering disciplines from a recognised Institution in lieu of ITI.
OR
Note: Degree in the Engineering disciplines as above will also be acceptable in lieu of Diploma in Engineering.
RRB ALP Selection Process 2026
The recruitment process for Assistant Loco Pilot includes multiple stages.
- CBT-1 (First Stage Computer Based Test)
- CBT-2 (Second Stage Computer Based Test)
- Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
- Document Verification (DV)
- Medical Examination
Final selection will be based on performance in CBT-2 and the aptitude test

Part B contains trade-related technical questions and requires minimum 35% marks to qualify.
Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT):
Candidates shortlisted from CBT-2 will appear for the Computer Based Aptitude Test.
Key points:
- No negative marking
- Minimum T-score of 42 required in each test battery
- Final merit based on:
- 70% weightage of CBT-2 Part A
- 30% weightage of CBAT
