Eligibility Criteria of UPSC CGS Examination
Age Limit: A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years on the first day of the month of January of the year in which the Examination is to be held [i.e. as on 1st January, 2027] i.e. he/she must have been born not earlier than 2nd January, 1995 and not later than 1st January, 2006.
Age Relaxation: Upper age relaxation will be 3 years for OBC candidates, 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 10 years for PWD candidates.
Educational Qualification:
a) Geologist (Group A)/Assistant Geologist (Group B): Master’s in Geological Science, Geology, Applied Geology, Mineral Exploration, Marine Geology, Earth Science, Petroleum Geosciences or Geochemistry
ii) Geophysicist (Group A)/Assistant Geophysicist (Group B)/Scientist ‘B’ Geophysics: M.Sc. in Physics, Applied Physics, Geophysics, Exploration/Applied/Marine Geophysics.
iii) Chemist (Group A)/Assistant Chemist (Group B)/Scientist ‘B’ Chemical: M.Sc. in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry.
iv) Scientist ‘B’ Hydrogeology (Group A)/Assistant Hydrogeologist (Group B): Master’s in Geology, Applied Geology, Marine Geology or Hydrogeology.
