Judicial Assistant Written Exam Pattern

The Stage-I written examination carries 120 marks and runs for 2 hours. The OMR-based objective-type paper tests proficiency in English language, general knowledge, general aptitude, reasoning, and Assamese language (20 marks). The Assamese language proficiency segment is qualifying in nature.

Candidates need to score at least 40% (8 out of 20) in the Assamese language segment to qualify for the next stage. Marks obtained in the Assamese segment will not be added while preparing the merit list. The written exam carries negative marking; 0.25 mark (one-fourth of the marks allotted to a question) is deducted for every wrong answer.

Selection Process

The selection involves two stages. Stage-I is the OMR-based written examination of 120 marks. Candidates equal to three times the number of vacancies (1:3 ratio) in order of merit will be shortlisted for Stage-II, which is the Interview/Viva-Voce of 20 marks. A candidate must secure at least 60% (12 out of 20) in the Interview to be considered qualified.

Final selection is based on the combined marks of the written examination and the Interview/Viva-Voce. In case of a tie in total marks, the candidate scoring higher in the written exam gets preference; if those marks are also equal, the senior candidate by age is preferred.
